Travel Days - Part 2

Madrid - The next leg of our “travel days” was a flight to Madrid. Upon arrival, we caught a “yellow bus” to Atocha Train Station for 5 Euro each. Our hostel, Hostal Residencia Fernandez, is a few blocks from the train station and shares a courtyard with the Reina Sofia (one of the top art museums in Spain.)

We have a double room with three beds and a private bath. The building also houses private residences, and the occupant above us must teach piano lessons. There was a constant plunking of the keys when we arrived. Thankfully by bedtime the lessons had ceased.

As it turns out, Monday's are free at the Reina Sophia from 7pm-9pm. Among other works, we saw Picasso’s Guernica and many pieces by Salvador Dali.
Next, we ate dinner al fresco in the courtyard at Sanabria. Olives and sangria were followed by ensalada tropical and pizza con hamon. Es muy delicioso!  Tomorrow (Tuesday, June 7) we will catch a train out of Atocha Station to Pamplona to begin the Camino Frances.
